OUR COMMUNITY

Who we are beyond the business

At Hire a Housewife, we've always believed that a business should give back to the community it serves. Over the years that belief has grown into three initiatives we're genuinely proud of. When you choose Hire a Housewife, you're supporting a company that supports its community.

Cleaning for a Cause

After experiencing the profound toll cancer can take on a family, Natasha and her husband Pete launched Cleaning for a Cause — a deeply personal initiative designed to support those navigating terminal illness in our community.

Working closely with Arohanui Hospice social workers, we identify cancer patients in need and provide up to three months of free cleaning support. It's our way of giving families the space to focus on what matters most — time together.

Our Executive Housewives often form close bonds with the families they support through this programme. It's heartbreaking work at times, but it's also some of the most meaningful work we do.

How you can help:

  • Purchase a gift voucher for a cancer patient in need

  • Donate a one-off clean to extend the three-month support period

  • Sponsor a spring clean for someone beginning treatment

With your consent, we'll share a little about the recipient's journey so your gift feels personal and appreciated.

Paper Bag Presents

Every Christmas, the Hire a Housewife team partners with local businesses to collect thousands of dollars worth of gifts for children in need across the Manawatu. Gifts are distributed to Women's Refuge, Manchester House, and 131 individual tamariki who might otherwise go without.

Because every child deserves something to unwrap on Christmas morning.
